CharityCompare

Coverage

Does CharityCompare cover Scottish and Northern Irish charities?

In short: Yes. CharityCompare carries a profile for every charity on all three UK registers — the Charity Commission for England and Wales, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), and the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (CCNI). Each profile names the relevant regulator and links to that register entry.

Data from CharityCompare editorial, last updated .

Coverage differs slightly by nation, because the registers themselves do:

  • England and Wales — registration is compulsory above £5,000 income, and detailed annual returns support full Clarity Score rating.
  • Scotland (OSCR) — every Scottish charity must register regardless of income.
  • Northern Ireland (CCNI) — a newer register, so some charities have a shorter published filing history.

Where a charity’s published data is too thin to score fairly, we show a basic profile with its official register details rather than inventing a rating. Charities that appear on more than one register are shown once, on the profile with the richest data.
