Privacy
CharityCompare is free for donors and does not require an account. We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we self-host our fonts so Google Fonts never sees your visit. Standard server logs may record IP addresses for security.
CharityCompare is a trading name of Elite Digital AI Solutions Ltd (company no. 17250017), which is the data controller. Contact: [email protected].
Data stored in your browser
If you use “Watch charity”, your watchlist is saved in localStorage on your device only — we do not receive it. Clear site data in your browser to remove it.
We also store your cookie consent preference in localStorage (cc-cookie-consent) as either
accepted or declined.
Cookies and analytics
Essential: required for basic site operation (for example remembering your theme preference and consent choice). These do not require consent beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
Analytics (optional): only if you choose Accept on the cookie notice, we load Google Analytics 4
(measurement ID G-1NTJW0NJ75, Google Analytics property 539985014, stream “CharityCompare”).
Google’s tag (gtag.js) is not loaded before you make a choice, and is not loaded if you decline.
We use Google Consent Mode: analytics_storage defaults to denied and is granted only after Accept;
advertising storage remains denied. We disable Google signals and ad personalisation signals.
Analytics helps us understand aggregate site usage. If a visit arrives from a known AI-assistant hostname
(for example ChatGPT or Perplexity), we may record that hostname class as an ai_referral event.
We do not receive the text of any prompt or conversation. Google acts as a processor for this data under Google’s terms;
see Google’s privacy policy.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not require a consent banner.
You can change your mind by clearing site data for this domain (which clears the stored consent choice) and reloading the page to see the cookie notice again.
Charity claims and partner enquiries
If you claim a charity profile or enquire about a paid plan, we collect your name, role and work contact details. Although these are business contacts, they are still personal data under UK GDPR. We use them to verify your connection to the charity, administer your listing or membership, and contact you about it — our lawful basis is legitimate interest (operating a charity directory with verified listings). We keep them while the relationship is active and delete them on request.
Payments
Optional donations and paid plans are processed by Stripe, which acts as our payment processor — we do not store card details. Stripe processes payment data under its own privacy terms.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
