Professor Brown left the residue of his estate in trust, the income from which to meet the cost of purchasing any printed books, periodicals and maps and also any manuscripts relating to Alpine, Artic and Antarctic studies which in the sole discretion of the Librarian are considered to be suitable additions to those categories of books et cetera in the Library. Any income not so applied can be used for any other purpose by the Library except general maintenance. Net income not disbursed shall be carried forward for disbursement in future periods.
