POPP is a lunch and social club for lonely, isolated older people. It offers them the chance to get out of their homes, share a meal and participate in social activities such as games, discussions, entertainments, and outings. It runs twice a week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from the Portobello Baptist Church Hall. There are around 20 members at any one time. We rent the church hall, hire a minibus from a local transport charity to collect members from, and return them to, their homes, and the meal is provided at subsidised rates by Portobello High School.
