The Society holds an annual lecture, in person or online, on some aspect of MacLaren's work or his influence on the work of successors. It also publishes an annual journal of articles regarding MacLaren's work and that of his contemporaries and successors in the Arts & Crafts movement. Plans are being developed for events to mark the 175th anniversary of MacLaren's birth in 2028.
