IEHT was set up to own and manage the Isle of Eigg for the benefit of its residents and to conserve the natural heritage. Houses and farms are leased for long term rent and land has been made available for shared ownership housing to provide more security for residents. Eigg wasn’t connected to the mainland electricity grid so we have installed an island wide, renewable energy system which was a first to combine wind, solar & hydro technologies.
