What if a charity disagrees with its score?

In short: Any charity can request a correction with evidence, and we re-check the underlying filings. If the data we used was wrong we fix it and the score changes. If the data was right, the score stands — but the charity can publish a dated right of reply on its own profile for donors to read.

We separate two different objections:

  • “The data is wrong.” If we have misread a filing or used a superseded one, that is our error and we correct it. Send evidence via the claim and correction form.
  • “The data is right but the score is unfair.” The score stands, because changing it on request would make every score meaningless. Instead, the charity can add a published response explaining the context — a late filing during a leadership change, for example.

Both routes are free, and neither depends on membership. Our editorial policy sets out the process and timescales.
