Quick answer

CharityCompare is free for donors and takes no commission on donations. Its offered funding options are charity memberships, business data services and optional reader support. A breakdown of actual receipts has not yet been published. Scores and rankings are never for sale.

## Free information and optional services

The directory offers optional paid services and reader support to help meet hosting, data processing and
development costs. Free profiles, corrections and rights of reply are available without payment.
We distinguish the services offered here from money actually received: we have not yet published a
funding breakdown or amounts. No customer, donor or commercial relationship is implied by a free directory entry.

## Three ways to support the site

### Charity memberships

Any charity can claim its profile free. Paid Supporter and Partner memberships add presentation features (photos, videos, impact links) and clearly-labelled “Featured partner” visibility on browse pages.

## What money cannot buy

The Clarity Score, the ranking order, and any red flags are computed solely from UK regulator filings.
No charity or company can pay to change a score, rank higher in rated lists, or remove unfavourable filing data.
Paid placements are always labelled “Featured partner” and never appear inside ranked results.

## Common questions

Does CharityCompare take a cut of my donation? + No. Donate buttons link to each charity’s own website — we never process donations and never take a commission. The charity’s payment provider may charge fees.

Can a charity pay to improve its Clarity Score or ranking? + No. The Clarity Score, the ranking order and any red flags are computed solely from UK regulator filings. Paid memberships add presentation features and clearly-labelled “Featured partner” visibility only — never inside ranked results.

Who can advertise on CharityCompare? + Partner-tier charities can appear in clearly-labelled “Featured partner” slots on browse pages, and professional services that work with charities (auditors, accountants, insurers) can take sponsored placements. Every paid placement is labelled and excluded from ranked lists, leaderboards and comparison tools.
