# What if a charity disagrees with its score?

**In short:** Any charity can request a correction with evidence, and we re-check the underlying filings. If the data we used was wrong we fix it and the score changes. If the data was right, the score stands — but the charity can publish a dated right of reply on its own profile for donors to read.

Data from [CharityCompare editorial](https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/), last updated 12 August 2026.

We separate two different objections:

- **“The data is wrong.”** If we have misread a filing or used a superseded one, that is our error and we correct it. Send evidence via the [claim and correction form](https://www.charitycompare.org.uk/claim?type=correction).

- **“The data is right but the score is unfair.”** The score stands, because changing it on request would make every score meaningless. Instead, the charity can add a published response explaining the context — a late filing during a leadership change, for example.

Both routes are free, and neither depends on membership. Our [editorial policy](https://www.charitycompare.org.uk/editorial-policy) sets out the process and timescales.
